r170 spider webbing of the wheel finish
especially around the lug bolt holes and the area around the wheel cap. so I try to sanding it down to the polished alloy and then just re-clear coat the wheel. forget that, it's faux. I don't know how they can make that machined finish look with spray on what ever. At this point I was into it, I took it down to the real bare metal and tried matching at least the color. A real pain, prep is everything. I masked the area off and used an exacto-knife in place of a pencil in a compass, used an old center cap with a small hole in the middle for the compass pen, cut out a circle in the masking tape and sprayed on a close silver with a clear coat. Is was ok. knowing now, I would have just used the silver to touch up just the spider webbing. I find that buying a spray color, spraying into the lid, then using a decent artist paint brush to touch up is neater, but has to be done in a few coats. I ended up getting a re-finished wheel for $143 including shipping, plus mounting and balancing. it looks pretty good. it isn't a perfect match, but close. it's better in someway. seller on ebay chicagowa 800 486 0931
