When my SLK 320 stalls, when I turn the key to restart it NOTHING except the dash lights come on. I generally have to wait 2 or 3 hours but then it starts normally! Sometimes you only have to wait just a few minutes for it to start normally. Does anybody have a clue what would cause this??. By the way, after it starts, it will keep going for an hour or so but then stalls again!!

CHECK THE K40 RELAY - sometimes the soldered circuits crack and causes this problem

Thanks, Mike for your help but maybe I don't understand the K40 relay?? In reading online about it, my understanding is that it doesn't affect the starter motor but does affect the fuel pump. Is that correct?? With MY SLK320, when I turn the key the dash lights go on but THAT'S ALL! The starter doesn't crank and there is no other noise!!

 

As I said check my Very old posts. this K40 relay is an electronic component which is prone to intermittent failure which involves no starting & sudden engine cut-out ?
