Default Hot air is coming out of the AC vents?

Mercedes SLK 320 2001. Hot air is coming out of the AC vents on the passenger's site. I cannot change the temperature. AC works fine on the driver's side, the temp can be adjusted, however I cannot change air distribution on both sides. Does anyone know what the problem is? I have the temp to low on the driver's side, but hot air keeps coming out. [/align]

If it was hot both sides I would say the Duo valve under hood as default is hot (open)
BUT one of them may be stuck open. Give them a few "raps" with a screwdriver handle.
Also if your able swap the wire around on the plug to see if fault changes sides.

as well as that 99% above the dash controller suffers from dry soldered joints. a resolder may fix.

Check duo valves 1st.

Hello Bazzle,

Thanks for your spot on diagnosis. Had it done by Mercedes garage and you were absolutely right it was the Duo valve. All sorted and fine now. It costs £200 to have it fixed.

By the way what are thes nice alloys on your Merc?

Wheels are Brabus copies, 8.5 x 18 front, 9.5 x 18 rear
225/40/18 and 255/35/18
