Check Engine Light - Fuel Trim Malfunction
Hello All! My check engine light is on most of the time and a test indicated: 'Fuel Trim Malfunction Code P0170'. Can anyone tell me which sensor this one is? Thanks!
First thing to do is clean the MAF, and reset the lamp. If that fails and the lamp goes on again, you probably will have to replace the MAF. Shop around on Ebay. I had the same problem, and found a newBosh unit for $139. It fixed the problem.
P0179. Fuel Trim Bank 1.
Likely MAF. Mass Air Flow meter. Usually gives problems at 70k miles+
4 or V6/V8 engine?
Read previous posts (numerous t6hreads present). This is an extremely common MB problem.

As Bazzle states. Only buy from MB unless you like living dangerously.
Cheaper "alternatives" do exist BUT...
Some people have had good experience (saved a few dollars) others have had bad experience... on going (different but related) problems.
I recommend using genuine parts but DIY. 5 min job. No special tools, coding, etc etc. just read this forum for details of how to remove air cleaner (subject to model) etc.
