Default towing SL

I have a friend with a 1966 SL which needs to be towed for about 600 miles. If I use a tow dolly will it hurt the car to tow it on the back wheels with the front wheels on the tow dolly? It has an automatic transmission. If it will hurt it, how can I tow it best, (1) placing the back wheels on the dolly and towing it backwards, or (2)disconnecting the drive shaft, and towing the car with the front wheels on the dolly? Thanks for the help in advance...................Catch

Default RE: towing SL

very good question.

i think it is more stable to tow the car with the rear wheel on the road. no chances of swaying and few moving parts.

if i have to do it, i will disconnect the propeller shaft. it won't take 2 hours to do it. disconnect it from the rear axle differential, so nothing is moving at all. secure loose parts with plastic straps.
