Default Steering Box Leak

Has anyone on the board had any experiences with a steering box repair (1991 SL500)? I understand the box can be re-built. My box has a slight leak. I understand that fluid can damage lower control arm bushings if continues. Anyone know parts or cost or any suggestions?

if only slight leak and no previous minor accident that bent steering knuckle, suspension arm, or other components... then just replace the two oil seal. it can be done without removing the steering box.

remember to mark the exact position of the pitman arm!

it go higher or lower by a fraction of mm, and your front alignment will be lost. wearing out of tire will be inevitable.

I suggest you to get a Factory Mercedes Manual.

It has all service and maintenance instructions, step by step.

A great help, hope this will help you.
