2003 sl500.... does the start (front ) battery keep any memory devices alive ?
can i replace without providing a voltage source to keep everything awake ?

Hi Glen - just to make sure that I understand your question: are you asking if replacing the front battery will reset the car's memory features like the seats and overall, general settings?

 

Yes... jut wondering if i need to take precautions as i would if replacing the rear (appliance) battery?

If you don't have an owners manual, try to find one. turn off everything electrical first. pages 320 & 356 if replacing batteries connect starter battery first starting with positive cable and hook up negative last. then hook up accessory battery. you should only have to worry about synchronization of the esp on page 293 and the side windows on page 179 after installing.

 

thanks...i do have a manual, however i am only replacing the start battery....do i need to take precautions as noted for only the starter battery ?

 

might pull ground on accessory battery first to be sure. reconnect after starter battery is installed. may or may not have to resynchronize esp and windows
