Sl280 1981 European Version: Some questions

Hi Guys,
Ive just joined and bought a merc sl280 1981 European version. A have a few questions that I hope you can help me with:
- the hard top and the driver and passenger side doors are leaking water. Also boot filling up with water - looks like through the back lights. Looks like seals may need replacing. Can you only get seals from Merc dealer? Has anyone used universal seals on hard top or another parts and what has been the result? Where can I get from? I came across some companies that do universal seals.
- How easy are the seals to fit yourself? What is the process?
- Got a slight noisy cam. Is that normal on these models. What do you suggest I check and try to resolve first - maybe some of the settings?
- I do not have any manuals. I know Haynes do a US version of the SL 350/450. Besides the engine size how different is this manual to help me with my car? I was thinking of using the 80/20 rule.
Thanks
Raj
PS -I do hope this is the right place for the post as it did not mention anywhere specifically for the earlier sl models.
