Should I buy an '04 SL55?
Hey everyone...
Need some help here. I'm a life-long corvette guy, but I'm thinking of taking the leap to a 2004-2006 SL55. I'd like to know from any of you owners out there if this is a good buy or not. I'll probably look for something with about 30k miles. Does anyone know how long the superchargers last on these cars?
I'll definitely buy an extended Mercedes Benz warranty with it, but I'm just wondering whether I should stay with the Vettes or move to the Benz for a while.
Thanks for any help!

great fun car and ive seen an 04 with over 100k on it and the superchrger was fine. car was dealer serviced for the life of the car though. watch out for ABC supension issues fluid leaks and various ABC issues and water leaks in the trunk!!!! tire replacement is common.
Complex vehicle; everything in the rear is cramped together due to lack of space from folding metal top. Therefore, expensive to maintain or repair rear suspension items. You know the old joke about Italian cars are tough to work on because they first design a sexy body and build the car from the outside in, while the Germans build cars easy to work on because they build from the inside out; well, because of the folding top the Germans built this car from the outside in. My mechanic had a 35,000 mileage 2005 in his shop which looked great and said I could have it for $25Gs,; the owner was tired of paying $2Gs everytime something needed to be repaired at the dealer. I was really interested in the car but my mechanic told me to pass.
