Looking at an SL55 anthing I should know??
Hi guys At some point in the future I am looking at buying an SL55 AMG, the cars are a little beyond my budget at the moment and I want to wait till the insurence people are being reasonable. But we all have to have our dreams to hold onto. Can anyone out there give me some advice on what to look for?
Also how relyable were these cars? and is the facelift model any better than the early cars?
I have heard reports of leaking boot/trunk lid seals and throtal bodies/software that will sudely and unexpectly apply full throtal. I dont mind working on that car, I just want something that I can pamper and will last a while as I get into my 30-40's (currently 23)
Thanks
James

RE: Looking at an SL55 anthing I should know??
Hi Jim,
Have my 2nd SL55 now (2007 model). First one I had (2004) had indeed a leaking trunk lid seal, however this got fixed by thedealership at no charge.
Beside this leak the car never made any trouble and was very reliable.
Best tip I can get you: Don't look only at a SL55; drive one!
