I heard from one dealer that they can still order an '06 SL500, while another dealer tells me no new orders are being taken for 06's by any dealers since the 07's are coming out in May of '06. Anyone know if you can still order an 06? Thanks for the information.

 

Dealers are given allotments so it's possible for one dealer to be able to fill an order when another one can't. If a dealer says they can get you one, why would ask for people here to confirm it? How could someone here do that? Even if production has stopped, they may know of some floating around somewhere or are willing to make an effort to find one for you where the other dealer would rather you just order an '07 and go away. I guess the real question is what do you want? Seems that dealers are offering you an '06 or '07, your choice.

 

Thanks for the reply. The point is, I don't want to place an order for the '06 with the one dealer, only to learn that he can't get the car and can only get me an '07 which I then would have to pay more money for. Both dealers have been able to locate '06's for me, just not fully loaded and in the color combination I want. So I'd rather not be conned by one dealer who tells me he can order the car and then have him tell me I need to cough up more money for the '07. By that time, even fewer 06's will be available. I thought there might be some knowledgable people on this board who are either dealers or work for dealers who can tell me straight if I can still order an '06. If not, no problem. Thanks again.

 

I hear ya. I would still deal with the dealers. You're just wasting time here--with the question you have. No dealers here that I know of, except one who was trying to sell an '06 SLR Vision for close to half-a-million bucks. Sounds to me like you want an '06. You may not be able to order one, but maybe a dealer can find one with the options that you would order. I'm sure there are still some SL500s out there.
