Default OBDII link issue

My sl600 is not able to communicate with the DMV for an Emissions inspection. Has anyone experienced this issue, and how to fix it, other than to take it to Mercedes?

Thanks,
Joe B.

not sure if you have a fuse chart but if you do check the fuses for OBD2 or diagnostics. ive worked on cars in the past that the fuse was pulled for the diagnostics...possibly in hopes of getting past emmision test. check the obd2 connector under the dash. remove the panel and look at the connections. hard to say what it could be.

I have all data for the my car; I'll locate the fuses through it, and let you know if it worked.

Thanks,

Unfortunately, it wasn't a fuse. The area where the wires to the link is behind the firewall was opened once before. Whoever closed it some how kinked one of the wires, which made the OBDII connection inopperable. MB in Smithtow, NY, they were able to diagnose, repair, and inspect the car within a two hours. Cost me $126 per hour, but it could have been way more. I take my hat off to MB of Smithtown...highly recommend them.
