OBDII code P0600...don't know what to do...can anyone help? Sleepwalker or any expert?
I own a 2001 ML320 (14k miles...hardly ever driven) but I recently took it into the dealership for a recall on the catalytic converter. Ever since then I've been having a problem with it completely shutting down while driving. The car slows down and no response from the accelerator while all warning indicators light up. All I did was pull over and let the engine sit for about 5-10 minutes before restarting. It tends to do the same thing every 30 minutes. The OBDII reader shows code P0600 (Serial Communication Link Malfunction). To avoid taking it to the costly dealer...can someone please tell me what this means and what I can do on my own?

i wish it was that easy to guide you online finding the problem, but it will really take some good automobile understanding to know what you are doing.
that fault was detected by engine control unit (N3/10).
things that you need to test (not check...test!)
CAN data bus.
CAN element in DAS radio frequency/infrared control module (N54/4) or instrument cluster. you will need to check the resistance.
CAN element in N3/10.
only those 3 simple check and you can decide what the problem is
i will guide you after new year because i need to go to the market buy 12 kinds of fruits (which means money luck for a year) and some fireworks for this night (to drive away evil spirits).
remind me on monday.

Did you resolve the P0600 issue?
I've got the same code on my 2005 C230Kompressor. Problem is sporadic. Some times it won't start, other times it starts, runs fine except no tach, no speedo, no fuel gauge no signals no AC control, no window regulator control but runs fine. Other times it just runs normally. Does that sound like I need a new ECU?
