I am new to MB and just got a '91 SL300. I understand that it starts off in 2nd gear. How do you get it to start in 1st gear all the time?

i have the 500sl 1991 and think they are basically the same.
if you put the pedal to the metal, car should automatically take off in 1st. (you WILL notice)
but in my car you really have to press the accelerator down hard.

then there is a manual way to engage 1st, but i think the 300sl does not have that function.
on the selector lever you have P, R, N, D, 3, 2
underneath "2" there is a "B" in my car. to engage this, the lever has to be shifted to the RIGHT.
this will force 1st gear. i suspect the 300 does not have this though.
