Electrical problems
New owner of a 2004 SL500, has had a lot of recent work, and both batteries are new. A few days ago when starting in the morning, I got the message ELECTRICAL CONSUMERS OFFLINE. Tried driving it, very little response from throttle, gave it a little more, then suddenly it took off. I stopped and shut it off for a reboot, and it was fine with no message. It had only been two days since it was driven, so doesn't seem like the back battery should have been that low by then. Drove it yesterday, this morning the rear battery was down to 11.98V, is this a normal draindown? After starting, it shows 14+V charging on both batteries. Yesterday when driving it home from the shop for a checkup, I stopped at Harbor Freight, and when I came out, had it idling for a while talking to someone with air and auto lights on, and it started to have a spaz attack in the instrument panel, guages all went to zero, came back, did that a few times. SRS light on, then went out. Warning light showing the top partially open which it was not. Battery light came on and went off. Drove it to get something to eat, and the doors would not unlock with the fob, tried it a few times, then about 30 seconds later it unlocked. Started it and headed home, and had the SRS etc about halfway home, then quit. Could that period of idling with lights and AC on draw the rear battery down enough to cause this? It's fine again this morning, except for the low voltage reading on the rear battery before starting. I have quite a bit of experience with scanners, have an intensive for my Powerstroke Diesel, and have ordered an icarsoft MBII so I can check this one myself. Starting to think I may keep my XK8 lol...
