I have a 2001 SL500 bought about a year ago. It has only 34K on the clock. The car makes creaking noises when I turn the wheel about 1/2 turn while standing still or moving slowly...as in backing out of the garage.
Anybody ever heard of this??? Any response will be welcomed.
Thanks

I too had creaking noises, and thought it was steering, suspension etc. After typing "creaking mercedes" into google, I found that it is a common problem. It is a rubber bush (hopefully) behind one of your front wheels, look for it or feel for it, and give it a spray with WD40. This sorted mine out immediately, the noise is just dry rubber. You may notice that it never creaks on a wet day.

Take alook at this post and see if it helps. It's a real cheap fix if it solves your problem.

Use A silicone based spray with a needle and spray into that lower rubber bushing and it will stop it. I had the dealer tell me to do just that. I used a Lithium grease spray also. It fixed it all the way.
