Default 92 300E with creaking noise whilst turning

I've got a 92 300E with a loud (rubber sounding) creaking noise from the front driver side wheel well. It sounds especially bad when turning at low speeds (as in a parking garage). It only manifested itself recently during several weeks of below freezing temps.

I'm thinking it's a rubber stabilizer linkage or maybe a strut bearing that needs to be lubricated. Any other ideas? I won't be able to get it into the shop for a week so I may try to get under their with some WD40. Also I'm wondering if there's anything I may have not thought of.

Thx.
Will

Common weak point on the 124 chassis steering components is the idler arm bushing...
Look there first...Easy fix
