Hi everyone,
Just bought 03 SL500,car has been fine.Today got n, started it,can't move shift lever.When I step on the brake you can feel the click in the shifter but it won't move.Benz of Littleton said undo both Batterys, nothing changed.Thanx for any help. Tom[8D]

 

If you didn't feel the click Tom, then I could offer some suggestions. But that click is surely the action of the solenoid which energizes to release the lock on the gear shift lever, and this would mean the electrical interlocks for the lever are all working properly. So I can only guess that there is a mechanical problem within the shifter. If you are interested in removing the shifter assembly to examine the problem, then you can send me an email for instructions. But I think I would get an opinion from a Mercedes Tech before going to that effort.
