RE: Amazing SL55 Number Plate: SL55 MEC On ebay!
Hi, my 1st post as a new user from the UK.
Let me clear up 1 thing first,
In the UK, license plates are highly regulated and can fetch very high prices.
Our registration system is dictated by years and a certain number of letters/numbers and there is no exception.
You can't simply ask for a license plate and get it, most of the time you will have to attend an auction to get your ideal 'plate'
I won't go into the whole system but in general.
1983: All plates consist of A- no-no-no let-let-let (where no is a number between 1 and 999 and let is a letter)
this carries on through till A reaches Z
then it changes again.
It's hard to explain but british plates become very very expensive.
For example:
The registration plate: S1 NGH (Singh is a common Asian UK surname sold recently for over 1/4 Million GBP)

GPRS uses cell phone towers to triangulate your position when you dial 911 on your cell phone. Cell phone companies were mandated by legislation to provide a method of locating people when they dialed 911. This system is called E911 (Enhanced 911).

GPRS is no more effective in providing a position than GSM or AMPS, it can only tell you what cellsite you are in, that's it.
NO Communications service can locate your position, it can only tell you where you where when you last placed a call or roamed into a new cellsite.
If that cellsite has a massive range (ie in the countryside) they will never find you
If that cellsite is a repeater in a dense city then they could easily find you.
Let's not get scared or confused by GSM/GPRS/GPS/TACS/AMPS/PCN.

GPRS is just another communications service, it will never replace GPS.
