99 SL500 CD Changer Issues... HELP!
I just picked up a MC3198 CD Changer off Ebay and the hook up was a snap. However, when I opened the CD Changer door and hit the ejection button, the magazine isn't ejecting. Also, when I hit CD on the head unit, it says "NO CD CHANGER". Does this make sense? I've disconnected the battery, cleared everything, re-entered my radio code and still nothing works with the CD Changer. It's getting power, but still doesn't eject the mag and no response at the head unit. HELP!

I had somewhat the same problem when I first got my car. My solution was to take the CD changer out and take it apart. Don't feel intimidated when you take it apart,
This is not a terribly hard fix. Remove all appropriate hinges and then remove the screws for the top cover. remove the screws to the side cover, Feel around the back bottom left of the changer for a large gear. Turn the gear, it will only go one way, until it stops. This advances the CD player selector/elevator in the changer to the bottom of the chamber in which it sits. Replace the screws and the top, return to trunk, replug and start the car. Play a CD.
Worked for me. you only wasted 60 minutes.
Once it is re-connected it will take each cd one by one and then return to the first cd until you press your selection of CD. Also i have not replaced the unit back in its cradle, just left it lying on its side in the horizontal position rather than the vertical position, hence never ever had a problem with it sticking since.

Dis-connect the power lead and optic cable, remove unit CD changer from the cradle.
Pop off the plastic cover on the top, take off the side panel, inside there is a small gear with a small screwdriver slowly move the mechanism to the start position.
Re-connect the power lead and optic cable, switch on the radio and the CD cartridge will pop out,
Lightly grease the mechanism and put it all back together, leave the unit lying horizontal on a blanket and not vertical back in the cradle.. Good Luck
