Default 99 SL500

I am usually on the C class board. I have a 99 C280. I saw at a local lot an 99 SL500, both tops, AMG style wheels, Black, Car looks to be in good condition, 110K, I am running thr VIN tonite. The price is $18000. What should I look for in a car like this with 110K miles, tires are new, AMG style wheels, body seems solid, going to test drive tomorrow. Thinkin gof buying if to round around town with. Any help would be appreciated about what to look for. The first thing now a days is flood damage? Anything else?? I know the cost of repair these cars, so there is a BIG ? in my mind. Average retail is in the low $20K arear.

Thanks,

that's good. latest engine for R129 on it.

test drive it.

observe shifting, temp, oil pressure, noise, etc. remove oil filler cap and look for sludge or checmical smell which may indicate oil burning (worn out rings, leaky valve seals, etc).

Do your think the mileage on the car is a reason not to buy it?

the mileage is scary, but if the maintenance was good, it can be reasonable price because the hard top is included.

was the hard top a panoramic one? (tinted glass).

No it is a solid roof, also the raptop looks good, not new, a bit dirty, but no seams coming out no rips or obvious repairs made and is not the original as far as I can tell. It is padded and the fit and workings are good. I am leaving in about and hour to "test drive" and will post later on my impressions.

i was thinking of panoramic one.

but if fabricated, then other things must be better to get good value for money.
