Hi Guys,
This is my first post and wanted some advice in regard to this 450SL
for sale.
450SL
It is very cheap, but needs some work.. in particular the front rail has rust (as picture below), what is involved in replacing this?
Just wanted to know what you guys thought about it? I would love to own a 450SL but this just looks like a money pit!
Thanks

it's just the longitudinal support for front axle carrier.
fortunately it wasn't deformed yet.
very much repairable.
after removing the front sub-frame assembly, the rusty parts isn't really as serious as it seems. it will be easy to cut out and replace.
have those other rusty parts sand blasted and coated with lead/zinc paint. then spray undercoat protection...and they will be good for many more years to come.
