I just changed my fuel filter on my 2000 E320, and I noticed that the old filter was made in Germany and the new one was made in Austrailia. I'm curious because I got the filter on ebay. The box didn't have the hologram on it that I see on the oil filters. Does this filter sound like an oem product?

 

Mercedes like most other companies put there parts out for bid, and usually low bidder wins. Knowing the cost of manufacturing in Germany, which is higher then in the USA. I can see why they outsource to someplace like Austrilia. A local golf ball company sends their ball cores to China to have them wrapped. it is cheaper to do this then to have them wrapped and finished in this country.

 

i am surprised that they are not made in China yet.

oddly enough, a lot of auto parts are now made in Korea.

Yes that's what it is. I found out I have an electric fuel pump. I thought all pumps were in the tank. I'm very happy that it isn't a filter because the thought of getting those clamps off and back on was quite terrifing.
