Default 380 sl transmission issue

I purchased a 380 sl last fall. The car had sat for a while. The trans slips into gear 2-3 and sometimes 3-4. It also takes 2 seconds to drop into reverse. I had the modulator adjusted by a MB mechanic but it still continues to slip. Other than replacing the trans does anyone have any ideas? I read something similar from someone else and they had purchased 2 rebuilt transmissions and they had the same issue so I am thinking there still may be a better fix than having the trans rebuilt at a cost of 2600. Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

Default SL500 needs a new transmission

My beautiful pristine 2005 SL500 with very low mileage needs a $10,000 transmission. I drove it with the battery light on after it was parked all winter. The dealer assured me it was fine (just the battery and it was starting fine) and they were so booked up I had a two week wait for service. So I continued to drive it until it died on me. It would start but not go into gear. Towed to the dealer and they tell me it needs a new transmission, theyfound metal filings. What the !#@$#? What are my options? They have my car.
