will disconnecting the front (starter) battery loose any memory settings or
is that controlled by the rear appliance battery?

I saw write ups in the benzworld forum that said it will cause a problem. I think the procedure was supposed to be to disconnect the consumer battery first.
I have a 2007 R230 and I changed out my starter battery without disconnecting anything else and there were no ill effects and no resets required. Don't know if I just got lucky or what.

 

thanks Rich.... it makes sense, but just in case i think ill use a 12source to keep things alive while i change it out..
