This is a 2000 sl500 with 90,000 miles. Beautiful car inside and out. I tried the top a couple weeks ago and it worked perfectly--up and down.
Yesterday it wouldn't retract. The back window raises but the deck lid will not release and raise to complete the deal.
Checked fuses and checked the oil level in the pump under the tire and they were good.

If the battery is even a small bit low, the top will hesitate. Go drive around the block or put a jumper on it and it might work perfectly. After experiencing this and using a jumper box once, I never had the problem again. No recharging, no new battery, just get a couple of charging miles on the car. Good luck.
