Hi fellow Sl owners!
I recently picked up this 1997 SL500 from a friend to settle an estate. Th e vehicle was dealer serviced regularly, and was babied by the previous owner. Even though it has 120k on the clock I purchased the car for considerably less than what it was worth!
Now a couple of questions for the MB gurus out there. 1st the light/bulb for the climate control unit will onky intermittently light up and if it does light it will only stay on for a short time before it goes out again! Yes the bulb was replaced.
2nd question the key/remote only works with one key 90% of the time. I tried to program the other key according to the manual by aiming the transmitter at any of the locks and then putting the key into ignition and turning to the #2 position but haven't had any luck so far with it programmoing the second key to work (the transmitter has new batteries and it passes the test of lighting the infared diode while holding the button for 2 seconds)! On top of that the primary key once in a while will not work either!
If anyone can help I would be thankful!
