I have a 1996 SL500 and during winter storage the battery died, i jumped the car and had to re syncronize the windows. On the rollbar switch the light is on and on the top switch the light is on, when i push either switch nothing happens. Is there some kind of re syncronizing method? Or a way to re sync the top due to the power loss?

 

If I spent an hour searching, I think I could find at least a dozen people that this has happened to. I would say that in every case the problem was a code set in the soft top controller that could only be erased with a Mercedes-specific scan tool. The thing is, to my knowledge nobody with this problem has had it fixed and replied back with what code was found.

I'm pretty sure you have to go to a shop and have codes read and erased, and simply doing that will restore operation. If you do that, I hope you will make a point of telling the shop that you want them to tell you what codes they erased so that you can reply back here. With that info we may come-up with a solution for the next person with this problem -- a solution that does not involve a trip to a shop.
