1992 sl 300 oil leak from top of windscreen

Default 1992 sl 300 oil leak from top of windscreen

hi i have just bought this ,and noticed on repeated operation (playing with) the roof. it is weeping thin oil from top left of screen frame .i guess this is a hydraulic leak of some kind related to the hood system .
can anyone shed any light on likely cause ,and also any info on stripping it to suss it out .any help or/and workshop manual pics on subject greatly appreciated .
this is a european 1992 300sl .What is the difference betweeen this and th 320sl

Follow this link for the how-to's on this repair....Strongly suggest you pull both cylinders on top of the windshield; when 1 goes, the other is usually not long for this world-

After removal, you can have the cylinders rebuilt by...

Hi Bob,
thanks for the quick reply .i have contacted him ,i am hoping he will supply me with a repair kit ,as its not practical to send to him from europe .i'm wondering if mercedes do a repair kit .
i have dismantled th guilty party & fitted an o ring below outer seal which was the one causing the problem .it has rectified the problem ,but i am thinking it will be temporrary .thanks again steve .
just off to post my next problem
