i dont have a problem.i have a question..i want to know the approximate value of a really nice 88 300SE with 103k miles.it needs a hood and grill and hood painted.the owner is an 18 year old girl who spent all her money on this car and cant afford to get it repaired.she is a nice kid who goes to college with my daughter.i told her ill find out the value and buy it from her.int is imaculate.she is the second owner and bought it from a doctor.she paid 6000 for car.body shop offered 250.i want to be fair and help her out and i like the car alot.except for hood and a small scrape on side that happened in bodyshop parking lot the car looks new.i have seen posts that were answered with price questions answered in the past,,,no answer for me......i offered hood and grill to her for free,,and to put it on for her..she said thanx but realizes now she cannot afford to own an old benz.i can steal it from her for 500 but that is not what im all about.

Well, since you are also not a charity organization you are also not looking forward to paying too much for this car.
Why not go on the internet e.g. www.autoscout24.com or www.autotrader.com and start comparing the prices.
It is very difficult to tell you the value of a car on which one buyer may do repairs and the other simply leaves it as it is. If I am determined to bring it in good condition I would want to spend as little as possible, since I know I will spend more money.
The fact that she paid 6000 should not be your guideline. If someone pays too much for anything it does not mean I have also have to pay too much.
Perhaps you can go to a Benz dealer and ask for a valuation. Don't go there yourself, let her go, so she will understand they are not playing a trick on her.
