Is starmark warranty worth the price
I will be purchasing a used 2001 e430 4matic with 46,500 miles from a MB dealership very shortly. On average I drive 6000 -7000 miles a year and am concidering purchasing a 3 yr service package. It already comes with 1 yr. Does this vehicle have a history of problems that would warrant the 1750.00 investment? Also, is there anything that I should be looking for on the vehicle before the purchase?
Thanks for your advise!

I would suggest you to buy the warranty, if nothing happens to the car during those 3 years, GREAT!
But when a problem occurs, you'll be glad you bought the warranty.
The dealer in my area usually charge $100-$120 / hr just for labor.
My 2001 CLK430 has less than 37000miles and just had the catalytic converter replaced.
Thankfully, I still got 4 months of warranty left..[8D]

I would wait a year until the one-year warranty you have expires before even thinking about buying another one (which, BTW, I still would not). A year should be long enough to brand your car as reliable or one needing an extended warranty.

True story - Vehicle comes in for Starmark Inspection. Technician does preliminary checks and finds frame damage that excludes vehicle from warranty program. Technician tells salesman that vehicle cannot be 'Starmarked'. Salesman practically cries. (Car has already been sold as 'Starmarked') Technician says "sorry". Vehicle was sold as Starmarked anyway!
Story aside, I would ask to see the actual inspection and maybe talk to the tech that completed the work. Also a copy of the VMI will show what has been done under warranty.
If I were to buy a 4 matic, I would opt for the extended warranty.
