w220 S320 RED -- DO NOT DRIVE STEERING COLUMN IN EXIT POSITION
Hi All.
The (manually controlled) electrical steering column adjust function on my 00 S320 works fine (electric seats but no memory). In/Out. Up/Down...full travel.
However the EASY ACCESS feature has worked intermittently (stops working for a day or so then returns as suddendly as it disappeared.) since I have had the car. It has now stopped working and hasn't come back on its own.
The problem is that this fault displays a RED -- DO NOT DRIVE STEERING COLUMN IN EXIT POSITION message in the message display which overrides all other messages on the display. It can't be cancelled since it is a level 1 message.
The column can be moved to the required position with no difficulty but the memory seems to be inoperative.
The system is turned on at the control stalk. The 4 relays and 3 fuses in the LH control box under the hood are fine.
Anybody come across this before?
Tends to stop working when the ambient temperature drops but this is not a strong association.
Anybody know where the control module is located and which pin is the memory power feed?
