Thinking of Buying 00-03 s500
i will most likely pick one up by this weekend. Anything i should be aware of while looking at these cars? most of the s500's I'm finding for around my budget "12-13k" have around 100,000 miles. Is that a lot of miles for a mercedes?

the 2000-2003 S-class.
The most frequent problems I've been seeing is airmatic leaks. So far they are getting well taken care of it seems. There is a kit out there for the leaks as prior to that, people had to replace each one at a tune of $1000 or so.
Some have electrical glitches like the dash going out being the most major one and there are post here coving that and how that turned out. Besides that, the rest seems to be minor things.
100,000 miles is nothing for a Mercedes as long as the maintance is up to date. I mean, by the book at least. If the 100,000 mile maintaince is done then you should have notmuch to worry about as that is usually when the most money is spent. After that, you have another 100,000 mile before more big money save for the glitches that happen here and there.
100,000 miles and for 12-13k that maintance record should be flawless as should the car condition just about.
Not many cars is worth the hair off a rats behind in the 100,000 mile range but Mercedes is one of them and it have plenty life left.
The main thing get it checked out, know what you going into,as taking to the W220 is not cheap endeavor but if a person is looking for a cheap endeavor in the shop, then they should stick with a base line corolla. The Mercedes is like a super model, yeah it might pinch the pockets every now and then, but it's one of the few cars you stare out your window and feel like a million bucks no matter what year it is.
