please can some one help i have a late 1994 mercedes S320

and i have a problem with the Gearbox

the problem is the car will not change gear until high RPM
or if you take your foot of the accelerator

is this a common fault
how much will it cost to fix
and what is at fault

just adjust the linkage.

 

well what year is your car for starters if its has a type 722.6 trans in it it dosent have linkage if it has a 722.5 trans in it then yes it has linkage called a boden cable that yes i would check.

so does your car have a 5 speed in it or a 6 speed in it

 

it's 1994.

722.6 starts 1996.

 

Somewhere in the bowels of my brain I remember something about a transmission modulater malfunction causing a problem like this. If other measures fail and the tranny has a modulator that would be something to check.
