Possible new owner, Advice?
Hey guys
I am looking at a 2001 Mercedes S430 with 146k miles. I have never owned a Benz before, so i need some advice; Is it worth $6000 to purchase this vehicle?
Can you guys tell me are there any common problems with this vehicle?
Any costs that i might come across?
Insurance Costs?
Gas Mileage?
Among other stuff..

be careful where you by it from..alot of benzes have been destroyed by people who cant afford to drive them and get them serviced at places that shouldnt be touching them. i recommend taking to a benz dealer and pay them an hour to look the car over first before purchase. i see customers all the time that said they got a great deal..and all they got was a huge pile of junk..alot of these cars come the inner city.
yeah honestly have it inspected. those things eat lower ball joints, thrust arms, motor mounts, airmatic shocks, among mayother things, also find the service records on it, i couldnt tell you how many rings jobs i have done on there newer mercedes with the flexable service system due to changing your oil every 13000 miles or more
Not all cars from the inner city is junk I live in the inner city brooklyn NY very expensive place to live compared to when i was a kid my car goes to the dealership ONLY when major work is done the last time I went to find out about the command the dealer told me to replace the Comand will be $7,000 to replace it WoW!! I replace the comand for $1,000 by company that sells navs, radio, ect. I have an independant machanic who is an expert on Mercedes Benz The dealer takes your car holds it for 3-4 days with your car then bills you thousands of dollors???? Why even put yourself in such a sitution??
