I'm sure sleepwalker will pop in and pinpoint it for you.

I had the same problem. Couldn't find the filter on mine. I checked every sqaure inch underneath the engine. Couldn't find it. Turns out MB put the filter in a canister with a lid on top that's accessible from above. Still, I have to remove the left-side air cleaner housing back to the MAF sensor to get to the canister. Kinda weird. Anyway, look from above along the upper sides of the engine block, just under the valve covers, for a canister with a bolted-on lid that's about the shape of the filter you bought.

I was going to say, did you check the top of the engine, my C280 V6 has a canister in front on the drivers side of the engine. easy on easy off. Then I pump the oil out thru the dipstick, just like the dealer does and save $75 more or less. Makes sure you use the correct viscosity oil, Mercedes are very sensitive to the lubricants.

I wouldn't pump the old oil up through the dipstick tube. Impurities are left in the oil pan if you do that. Drain the pan from the bottom.
