I have a1982 500sel euro. Car ran fine then stalled a couple of times. I changed wires, plugs, cap, rotor and fuel filter. Car ran fine for a couple days then stalled again and now wont start. I was told that it may be the ignition control box or the fuel pump. The fuel pump does come on and I can smell fuel after trying to start. Any way to check the ignition box? Any advice would help.

 

Check all grounds. Mercedes uses brown wires for grounding. A corroded ground could easily cause your problems.
