Mystery. Squeak driving me nuts. Help
I recently bought a 2018 S560 with around 22,000 miles. The car was checked out by our Mercedes dealership and had no issues according to the dealership. When I drive the car, I’m hearing an intermittent (of course) squeak/clicking sound. it seems to come from the rear passenger area. It seems to be worse on rougher roads. It does not increase or decrease with speed of the car. It starts around 30 mph. I think it’s probably suspension related since it seems to be triggered by slightly rougher roads. On some days it is completely gone. Another day it comes back and you can clearly hear the clicking noise. I brought it to my local Mercedes dealership. They kept the car for a week. they were unable to find the source of this squeak/clicking. I think I will probably have to trade in this Otherwise perfect car. Any help would be much appreciated. It sort of goes like click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click click click click. I checked the trunk and there is nothing loose. I checked the rear passenger seat, and there is nothing loose. The noise appears to be coming from somewhere outside the cabin.
The squeak/click is not loud, but just loud enough to be a nuisance. I would describe the sound like the clicking of a computer mouse, but not as loud. It’s more of a tapping sound like metal and metal.
it seems to be worse than the first hour or two in the morning when I drive the car. It seems to dissipate with time. Which makes me think it’s some part that’s not lubricated properly, and that somehow is getting warmed up or more lubricated as the day goes on.
it appears to be triggered by the movement of the car. But does not seem to be directly related to movement of the car since it does not get worse or better if the car travels faster or slower, or the road is significantly worse or better.
