hello i curently own my first merc... have been messing around with jappa's for years and decided i wanted to play with something else...
my question is... did any mercs come out with a factory super charged V8 motor? if so what sort of HP? i want to rip out the strait 6 thats in there now and replace it with a V8... have found a few lexus V8 converstions that are quite cool.... or even open to any other ideas for a conversion

Engine swap can be costly and time consuming. Usually it involves replacement of computer modules, front springs and maybe other suspension/frame parts, new engine wiring and vacuum harness/lines, and this list grows and grows. Usually best to just by another car/mercedes with the engine you want. Bill Mercer

but does anyone know if there is an aftermarket supercharger kit for a 117 series 5.0?

 

i have sucessfully done 7 different engine converstions on various makes and models of cars and do most of the work myself... the car i have is a S320 and as i understand (correct me if im wrong) there is a model the same shape as mine that runs a V8??? 500SEL??? was thinking i could use that motor and box.... is there a super charger kit available for this motor???? or any factory mercedec super charged V8's???

You bet they did and do. The S55 has a sweet blown 5.5 liter intercooled motor that makes 493 hp and 516 lb ft. of torque. The early (up to 2002) S55's were not intercooled and made about 360 hp, so you want a 2003 or later package to do the job. The electronic interface is going to be interesting, but I'll bet Motec can sell you a system to run the engine in anything. FYI, the S55 has given way to the S65 with about 600 hp, but those are 2006 and later. The blown motors are hand built by AMG and each one has a plaque on it signed by the builder. A wrecked S55 with a good powertrain recently sold on eBay for about 15k, so they are not cheap.....

The S55 does have a sweet engine, Get them while you can... Once people realize that Mercedes can't make em like that after the strict 07' emission guidelines, the price will jack up.... which engine are you trying to upgrade??? My 99' 300 turbo diesel kicks some asphalt.. maybe you can buy the turbo separate and make some conversions..Have to be a master Mercedes mechanic for that job though...
