Hi guys im new on here and was after some kind advice.
I was driving on the motorway yesterday and I enabled the cruise control when i noticed the speedo lights fade out..at this point the speedo neeldes were still working but after a few minutes the whole speedo froze at 80mph along with the fuel, Temp and rev needled.
I called out the RAC who checked both fuse boxes under the bonnet and the one below the rear seats but no luck. Also the interior lights are not working and the headlights come on even if they are turned off.
I would appreciate any help from you pro's.
Kind of scared to take it to main dealer incase they hand me a LARGE bill.![EEK!](https://mercedesforum.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif)
Many Thanks
James

Hi, First reply I have ever done, was so surprised nobody replied to your query. The fault is common on S class and wa, a recall on some chassis no's. I happened to me and I contacted Mercedes head office In England and they replaced new cluster with no charge even though my S320 was not on the recall list. But you have to be friendly and knowledgeable on the fault when you contact them. You probably have already sorted it out, I have only seen your query tonight 14 June .

My 2001 s320 had same dead instrument cluster last year. Cost me £600 ! They wont replace it as your car wont be on the list of recalls, and its 8 years old , like mine! If you want to get it repaired you can get it done for about £250. They are easy to remove with the removal keys
http://clusterrepairsuk.co.uk/featured/s-class/
■Standard mail order price. You sending your instrument cluster to us, repair time 24 hours; £180 plus return p+p
■In-house while you wait 2 hour repair service, includes removal and re-fit of instrument cluster; £250.
■Mail order including removal instructions, return packaging including box, bubble wrap and return address labels plus a loan instrument cluster which allows you to start your vehicle and stay on the road with no fault codes being stored on your ECU whilst your instrument cluster is being repaired; £220 plus £150 deposit which is refunded when our instrument panel is returned to us.
