Lookin for general info on how to remove the old tumbler. Ordered the new one but having no luck finding info on how to remove the old one that is frozen in. Turned the face of the old tumbler to get a pin in to release but the outside black colar won't allow me to remove the tumbler. Any help would be much appreciated. Is there a lock on the outside colar as well? Do i cut it off? Dealorship is too far away, unfortunately.

thank you

So even thou I am able to turn the face of the tumbler to get to the release mech on the tumbler doesn't matter, I have to be able to turn the whole key to position 2, which isn't happening. The "hub" that holds the tumbler in, how does that piece come off?

Your help is much appreciated on this project.

Paul

What size bit, and what is my goal of drilling out the tumbler, is there a release in there that allows me to remove the outter hub?

thanks again

no do not drill out the hole tumbler there is a lock pin release that u have to drll out if u would be able toturn tumber to 2nd postion this would release the lock pin and since u cant do so u have to drill it out and that will allow you to remove out hub andlock cylinder,

basicaly u would tuned the tumbler to 2 then you would press in the lock pin(thats what ur drilling out) then u would rotate the "hub"towards front and wiggle it until

it comes out the "hub" and out with the tumber

good luck let me know if u need any other help, maybe even a dig pic it you need it pointed out

good luck

Well with your help we have did it. However, we tried to turn the car over withno tumblers and it seems to be locked?By taken a screwdriver and spinning it, but it doesn't turn at all? So out from the pan and into the fire I go. What would be causing the problem if its not the tumblers? i am sure I am testing your knowledge at this point in time, as for me a i am clueless. Maybe steering column, or tranny?

Thank you for your previous help it was much appreciated.
