Default Location of Fuel Filter and tools for caliper bolts

I have a 2001 S500 that needs to replace a fuel filter and brake pads, Is someone out there replace those before. A friend of mine is a mechanic that is helping me to do the repairs but never work with mercedes before. We open the hood to find fuel filter but no luck and the brake caliper has a specialodd sizebolts. thanks in advance.

the fuel filter is located near the driver side rear tire, there is a plastic cover
that cover it, and the fuel pump. you will also need new clamps.
dont know about the caliper bolts though.
good luck..

Thanks armend for the info, I will check that this weeend. About the brakes, in order to replace the pads need to remove the caliper first. There are a couple of bolts that holds the caliper and I tried to use a regular socket or wrench in metric& english but either too small or big. Did anyone replace their brake pads before on a s500 2001?

If you aren't going to turn the rotors you shouldn't have to pull off the calipers. If you can press the pads and pistons back into the calipers, you should be able to pry out the pads. I used a metal punch that was placed into the holes at the top of the pads to do this.
This might be what another lister was referring to in his response.

About the fuel filter, doyou need to remove the panel under to see the fuel filter?

About the breaks, do you replace front and rear pads or just front?

thanks

On replacing the front and rear pads. Inspect the pads for wear. Normally the rear last much longer than the front.
