Default Keyless entry 1989 560SEL

My door locks on my 1989 560SEL are just about worn out; only one works now. I am thinking about an after-market leyless entry system. Does anyone out there have any suggestions? Also, what can I do about the door locks that do not work any longer. I cannot use the driver side door lock or the trunk lock.

Many thanks,

Herb

probably the vaccum pumps are going out or the hoses have leak.

After market keyless entry can work and I have seen it work, in fact my 560 I had an aftermarket keyless integrated with the vacuum operated looks. It worked beautiful If they can do that in the middle of nowhere Missouri, then I'm sure they can give you a good keyless entry set up. Just be weary of hack jobs as when you mess up the eletrical wires in those cars, it causes lots of problems. When the go in, make sure they stick with only the doorlocks and only connect what they have too and no cutting "unknown" wires.

BlackWolf,

Thank you for your comments; very wise. I will proceed accordingly. BTW, my "Beast" has about 190,000 miles on it and it drives as nicely as when I bought it used 15 years ago. It's a blast and gets more fun every day. Juts got it re-painted and now it is getting a lot of looks.

Regards,

Herb
