with almost 90K from a local lot. The car looks clean and has a shine to the finish, I took a large magnet with me and couldn't find any bondo, my son check out underneath and it is surprisely clean, garaged kept perhaps, the interior look good also, I took the VIN number and did a CARFAX and it came out OK, and it is a local car, that is it was first licensed in a 100 mile area of where I live, it looks like I would be the third owner, the dealer is asking $14995. Anything I should be looking out for with this vehicle. I understand they are very expensive to fix. I own a 99 C280 for the past 25 months dealer bought and Starmarked, but buying from a lot bothers me, as this car seems to have come off the auction in CT. Any advice?

I would check the transmission for any quirks. If it doesn't shift perfectly I wouldn't buy it.
Mine was replaced before I bought it at 74K miles. It needed modulator pump adjustments (minor cost) after I bought it, but the MB service manager told me that '95 trannies often fail and need to be replaced.
Maybe it's only the SL600 with the goofy tranny but it wouldn't hurt to check the S500 tranny really close.

Thanks for the advice on the tranny. I have a private mechanic, who is good with benz and bmw cars, I was thinking of taking it to him for a going over, so I will mention the tranny specifically.
