Help Trans Code p0730 ?
Help! I started the car today and No forward or reverse Gears... Shut it off and restarted it and I temporarily had both forward and reverse... Check engine light on and after scanning it I pulled up Code P0730. Gear Ratio Issue... Its not driveable and wondered if anyone has had this happen and what you may have found to be the cause...
Thanks in Advance.

Hi imcc,
Interesting one. Don't have a clue really BUT....
Can I assume that you are on OE wheel and tyre sizes? The "system" monitors wheel speed vs gearbox speed vs engine speed using standard gear ratios (which assune tyre size) hard coded in the algorithms. If non plausible data is measured it sets a code like 0730.
Does the code return after reset without moving the car or only if the car is driven?
If so I can't think how / why it would be able to "compute" a gearing issue without the car moving unless...
Is it an auto? If so is the Trans fluid level correct? (Excess torque converter slip)
Anything else you can add. Age, Service history, other isues etc?
Keep me informed. Good luck.
Stuart
