Guess who has an airmatic issue ;)
Hey y'all, I'm new!
Let me start by saying that I have read and searched the treads on airmatic and haven't seen any with my issue.
Ok, here goes. I have a 2000 S430 with 138k miles. I've had it a year. Car came from the CEO of a major record label in Nashville and even though I don't have ALL of the service records, I know for a fact that it was constantly serviced by Mercedes of Nashville. Not sure when or if the struts have been replaced.
Here's my issue.
Car was purchased last summer. Warm weather, no issues
As it got colder outside, the rear would sit down overnight. Cranked car, and it raised to normal. This was an every day thing. On accident, I found out that IF the trunk was loaded down, the suspension stayed level constantly.
Recently, the passenger side front strut is having the issue. It seems to raise and lower as im driving. It goes from normal level to "stop car too low" airs back up after a few minutes. The front passenger side will lower completely within a few minutes of turning the car off, but the back stays up for nearly a week or so.
Not sure if it's related or not, but when I go outside after the car has been parked for a while, and I hit the unlock button on the key, you can hear the airmatic release air pressure. Every once in a while, the pump will turn on but not run long enough to raise the car.
Also, even though the pump comes on and raises the car, it's obvious that the passenger side is too low and the drivers side is too high when it shuts off.
I'm 2 hours from the closest dealership. Any ideas? ANY help would be AWESOME!
