Default duplicate key

ok, i bought the 2000 s500 that i mentioned in a previous post. it runs like a dream. very smooth with lots of power. so, my question would be, should i get a spare key? how much are they and can i buy them on line.

thanks

Only at the dealer, with proper ID. They will figure out the code, since one was lost. The ones on E-Bay are useless except for the outside housing and can not be reprogrammed

Don't buy these from E-bay...they're a rip off. I had to get minie from the dealer and they're like $150.00--trust me.

I have a f/u question about the keys on E-bay. On my old Lexus, I just bought the fob on e-bay and just replaced the case that was worn.

on my 2001 S500, can I get the fob/key on e-Bay and just use the housing? My keys are fine, but I want new casings for them because they are warn, and I hate to spend 300 or more dollars for new keys just for looks... but I probably will, at least one of them if not.

Thanks!
