hi, i've a 96 S500. when engine revs reach 3500 and up the batt light starts to come on. goes out when revs drop back. Any ideas. if it is the alternator can brushes and reg be easily got and fitted. thanks.....

 

It could be anything....

The driving belt is not loose
The rectifier is bad ( Burnt rotating diode/s)
The alternator brushes are worn out/ alternator has bad bearing/s.
A loose connection b/w the battery and the alternator

It is advisable to get the problem rectified beforeit becomes an
emergency and you will have to spend a lot.
