air blows cold but doesn't blow heat

I have a 96 s500 and my air works but my heat doesn't blow, anyone knows what the problem may be before I go to a shop?

Could be a faulty mono-valve (heater control solenoid valve system). Part price can range 350 to 500 bucks.
