560 SEL
I am one new to the forum and nerw to cars. I just turned sixteen and have been saving up for a car like any 16 yr. old guy would and my dad decided to buy a new car for himself. Lucky me I get his Mercedes, an '87 SEL. I was wondering if any one had any ideas on how to make my ride more "cool". I know what I want to do with it but it being my first car I have had no experience with them. Where should I start making this car mine. (It is currently stock, but its engine is 5.6L of V-8 power.)

Ive got one, I'm going get get clear indicators with yellows bulbs on the front to make it look more modern. And I've already replaced the standard 205\65\15 tyres which are far to narrow for a car of this power and weight with bigger 225\55\16 tyres on a bigger set of wheels.
Thats as much as I'm doing, I think the cars as good as it can get.

Depends how much money you want to put into it. A set of 18" monoblocks look real nice. Also lower the car an inch or so. In the front you have to replace the springs and spring pads. The rear can be lowered by just adjusting the ride height sensor. Tint the windows 35% on the sides and 20% in the rear. Nice look but not too dark. As for the engine, leave it alone. The 560 has a good strong engine. There are no engine mods for that unless you want to spend BIG money.

Hi there !!
Nice to hear that you start with such a nice care !!
I have had 14 or 15 mercedesses the past years, all of them were second hand and I might have some ideas to make your car look
cooler !
First I would start changing all dashboard lights from white into blue
If you need advise how to do that, I would be happy to put some more info here.
Actually if you look blue leds, it would look really cool !!!
Furthermore you could modify your chairs and turn them from an old model into a new type of chair.
You might have noticed that Mercedes knows how to build cars but they don't understand how to make a comfortable chair !!! Chairs from for example a Saab are much more comfortable ....
It might help if you replace the springs, however such a new replacement spring unit is quite expensive.
Okidoki, good luck with your car

I say leave it the hell alone. Most people who own MBs prefer to keep them stock... not trash or "ghettoize" the cars. The W126 SEL is a classic - probably the best looking Benz ever built. There is no need to alter it.
But then again, I'm not a teenager and I don't feel pressured to own a "cool" looking car!
